Funeral Resources
Below you will find helpful information for planning funerals and memorial services in Cape Town and the Western Cape. These guidelines are based on official City resources and our experience serving local families.
Burial & Cremation Guidelines
Cemetery space in Cape Town is limited; the City therefore encourages cremation as an affordable, space‑saving alternative. Traditional burials are still available and can be arranged at municipal cemeteries and private graveyards across the province. Whether you choose burial or cremation, our team will guide you through every step.
Required Documents
For both burial and cremation, you must provide a BI‑1663/Medical Certificate of Death issued by a doctor, a copy of the deceased’s ID and their residential address. We obtain the relevant permits from the municipality and handle paperwork on your behalf.
Eco‑Friendly Practices
To reduce environmental impact, the City recommends using wooden coffins and avoiding metal fittings or chemical glues. Natural and biodegradable urns are also available for cremations. Ask us about our eco‑friendly packages.
